MISSION PROJECT OPTION 4:
Pattaya Slum Ministries with YWAM

170 children. Slum children. Children desperate for a smile, a hug. They get that, and more through Pattaya Slum Ministries (PSM). The ministry visits the slums 7 days/week delivering fried chicken to the kids and meeting/praying for the poor. They also have a center within the slums where kids and adults can come for hope through learning skills to escape poverty and most importantly learn about Jesus Christ. Here is a short paragraph taken from the blog of one of the staff:
"We drive our truck down the dirt road leading into the slum we visit on Tuesdays. The road is dotted with deep potholes and I bounce up and down in the back seat. The kids usually come running as soon as they see the truck pull in, but it’s raining lightly today so they stay under the cover of their tin roofs. The four of us — me, Angela, Pin and Mayti – split into pairs and start walking. The slum reeks of garbage. Most people in the slums collect it to make a living, selling the glass and plastic to recycling centers. I see a bent-backed woman pushing a large crate of trash past us. Last week I learned that another woman had received only $15 for her last six months of garbage collecting......"
As volunteers for this ministry, we would be able to witness this level of poverty and meet with and pray for these families. Those with medical background would be able to do basic medical clinic in slums - check blood pressures, meet with sick adults, and possibly other things. Visit YWAM for more info.

Note: We are currently finalizing details on more projects around the Chiang Mai area(s)...stay tuned!
